Better dead and red.
With the much anticipated release of the Fede Alvarez directed remake of Evil Dead creeping up on us, FilmDistrict and TriStar have revealed a sort of new poster for the flick. Sony toyed a bit with the original teaser one-sheet by moving some of the wording and changing up the color to the oh so appropriate red.
Okay, so it’s not totally “new” but who really cares — It’s Evil Dead!
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. Easter eggs gone bad. Evil bad.
Though the film holds several easter eggs that refer to the original classics, it makes no comments nor clarifications about them, leaving us with possible questions. Inevitably shocking and terrifying, but I question how long this film will last based on impact. It might just be a normal gross-fest turned up to eleven. That being said, it’s going to be very interesting to see this adapted onto the screen without any CGI. I do however find the ending unsatisfactory. More here
