HeartThrob, the new album, embraces without a doubt dance-y synth-pop, deep bass and 
big, wrapping up hooks fairly eliminated from the guitar-based popular music they made 
their name with. “We did have to make a mindful effort to make our record sonically much 
more hassle-free and pleasing,” Tegan informed Rolling Stone last month.

“I didn’t prefer a passive title, I didn’t wish something that made us sort of appeared martyred,”
